Marine and civil works, executed as construction schemes

HES is mainly engaged in marine and civil works: sand pumping for land reclamation, river dredging, silt solidifying, sediment hardening, and the laying and installation of pipe networks, cables and trays.

01

Sand pumping for land reclamation

Sand pumping and landing are used to place fill for coastal, island and polder programmes. Work of this type has been carried out at Pulau Tekong in Singapore, and on landing sites in Bangka, Indonesia and Phu Quoc, Vietnam.

The method is chosen to the site: hydraulic placement, landing, and the associated bund and drainage works that allow the fill to become working land.

River dredging

River dredging is a core marine trade. Plant is deployed on the water to excavate and move material in channels and river works, as illustrated by the Neil River programme in Ecuador.

The aim is a practical construction scheme: the dredge, the discharge, and the ground that receives the material are planned together.

03

Silt solidifying and sediment hardening

Where reclaimed or river-deposited ground is too soft for the next construction stage, HES undertakes silt solidifying and sediment hardening. The Yancheng works in China are an example of this treatment on site.

The output is ground that can take plant, roads or subsequent civil packages — not untreated slurry left as a later problem.

04

Pipe networks

Laying and installation of pipe networks sits inside both marine and civil programmes: drainage, utility corridors and associated trench works on reclaimed or industrial land.

Installation follows the issued alignment, bedding and backfill — a civil package, not a catalogue of fittings.

05

Cables and cable trays

HES installs cable networks and cable trays. Cases include cable-network construction at Pulau Tekong and cable-tray laying for Tuas Power Generation in Singapore.

The work is civil and electrical interface construction: ducts, trays, supports and the routes that power and control cables will occupy.

Equipment R&D and engineering construction

The HES team consists of two parts: equipment research and development in China, and engineering construction in Singapore. Construction schemes are designed and implemented with that split of labour.

The company continues to refine techniques through exploration and learning, in line with its philosophy of pragmatism, pioneering, innovation and development.
