Empoldering in Pulau Tekong

HES participated in empoldering works at Pulau Tekong — Singapore’s first off-island tropical polder. The scheme combines dikes, pumping, drainage and infill so that reclaimed land sits below the surrounding water level and is kept dry by pumps rather than by raising the whole island with sand.

Company literature records a subcontract for operation of purpose-built plant on this engineering scheme. Site photographs show the working platform, fill and marine plant during construction.

Sand pumping and landing in Bangka and Phu Quoc

Sand pumping and landing were carried out in Bangka, Indonesia and Phu Quoc, Vietnam. Discharge pipes place hydraulic fill behind bunds so that landing areas can be built out from the shoreline.

Polder roadbed at Matarbari Coal-fired Power Plant

HES undertook construction of the polder roadbed at the Matarbari coal-fired power plant in Bangladesh. The work includes earthworks, geotextile placement, marine plant and lifting on a tidal, soft-ground site.

The case sits in the same family as Pulau Tekong empoldering: a polder that must hold against water while the roadbed and plant platform are formed.

Dredging of the Neil River

River dredging on the Neil River in Ecuador is recorded as a marine project case. Floating plant, pumps and shoreline excavation were used to move river material and form working banks.

The case illustrates the company’s river-dredging trade outside Asia, consistent with construction schemes in South America.

Silt solidifying in Yancheng

Silt solidifying works in Yancheng, China treat soft, water-bearing ground so that it can carry subsequent construction. Site photographs show mixing plant, treated surfaces and adjacent water.

The trade sits with sediment hardening as a ground-improvement step after dredging or reclamation.

Cable networks in Pulau Tekong

Installation and construction of cable networks at Pulau Tekong followed the marine empoldering works. Duct banks, trench installation and large-diameter pipes were laid on the new land so that power and control routes could be established.
